It is official! We are four days away from my absolute favorite time of year, the Westside Market . After having the opportunity to write my first article it was proposed that we should spotlight vendors for those who had never been to one of these market days. I almost immediately had a list of vendors in mind that I wanted to share with you and proceeded to reach out to them to see if they would be interested in telling us a little about their business, their reason, and their products.

If you have never been to a Westside Market you are in for a great experience. So, stop reading this for two seconds and go add a reminder, wherever you need, so that you remember to be in line on Saturday, May 4th.

So first up, White Collar Woodsmen; one of my most memorable interactions at the Westside Market.

I had no idea what they were about but I recall them having one of the best banners out there, it was rustic, earthy, modern, all in one. Initially I was not going to check them out but my husband has the “look at everything” mentality so we ended up under their pop up. We were quickly pulled into wonderful conversation with the husband and wife duo who told us how they re-purposed their wedding centerpieces as displays for their products. As I checked out the packaging I remember being so appreciative for the quality, a sturdy glass bottle with matching glass dropper. I think I opened every tester I could, smelling every scent, they were all so pleasant and invoked different feelings. I remember doing it with the thought “What do I want my husband to smell like as he grows to look like a caveman for the next few months?” (Haha). The duo was so genuine and ready to answer all of my silly questions while not making me feel rushed in the process.

Admittedly, my husband and I have very short commitment spans to hair care products, so the bottle we purchased lasted for a very long time. The husband shaved his beard a month or so after that day and it just sat neglected in the medicine cabinet (the beard oil, not the beard, that would be weird). I am sure at this point you are saying, “Ashley, that is not very committed to a product you seem to be trying to rave about.” , so let me elaborate (I promise it is related to this product).

In August, I cut off all my hair, it wasn’t a full “Britney” moment but it was close enough. When I started the regrowth process it was horrible, I couldn’t get it to lay down for nothing unless I used buckets of mousse and hairspray. One day, on a whim, I decided to put a little bit of that beard oil in my hair and it was uh-mazing the rest of the day. So, yours truly, took over that neglected beard oil and started using it to tame my own hair. Though it is not a listed use, it is definitely a great option for taming those pixie cuts and the ingredients are those that promote healthy hair, I especially love that it has jojoba oil in it. As I continue letting my hair grow out I plan to try the beard tamer or beard wax this season along side the beard oil to keep my hair from looking like a tiny tumbleweed, and “snatched” instead.

Enough of my rambling! Super Momma, Sarah, whilst holding a sleeping infant might I add, was kind enough to let us in on the wonderfulness that is White Collar Woodsmen. Here is what she had to say:

What inspired you to start your business?

When we were engaged in late 2014, I wanted to give my groomsmen beard oil for our wedding. What I found was a variety of fairly simple recipes that were way overpriced. I decided to make my own, and then started giving/selling it to friends and their contacts.

How long have you been in business?

We have been in business for almost 5 years.

Can you tell us a little bit about the products that you create?

We create facial hair care products such as beard oil, beard tamer, and mustache wax. We also have found some great vendors who help complete our product line with combs, brushes, shave soap, etc. Our oils and waxes are all handmade and natural, using only essential oils, carrier oils, and vitamin E. The oils come in a variety of scents to please multiple noses. We strive to create a great product that is affordable and makes your facial hair look and smell great!

Will we be seeing any new products this season?

Since we just had a baby 2 months ago we have not added anything to the line. We still have some overstock of our holiday scent, Deck the Halls, that can be purchased.

What are you most excited for this year at the Westside Market?

Seeing our customers and letting them meet our baby! You build a relationship with people and they follow your journey and become a part of it! Also, we always love gaining new fans of our product who were using something else but found ours to be more suited to their needs.

If we happen to miss you at the Westside Market, where is the next best place to get your products?

We will be at the Hamilton Flea and Greater Cincinnati Holiday Market as well. We also sell our products online and in several locations. You can visit our website, www.whitecollarwoodsmen.com , or our Facebook or Instagram pages for more information.

Definition- Snatched (adj): Used to take the place of ‘on fleek’, ‘perfect’, ‘on point’ or ‘fashionable’.
